How long will a donut/spare tire last?
#1
Fun chain of events -
Tire goes flat, bead pops
I go to pull spare, no tire iron.
I get the lug nut key out thinking I can borrow someone elses.. it doesn't match my lug nuts

Shop cuts off the keyed lugnuts, puts on spare for me.

My spare isn't a full size, proper diameter just not proper width. How long is this good for? I'm in between pay days, and with 35k miles on the other 3 tires I'm assuming I need to replace all 4. I'd like to just limp along until next Friday when I get paid, I'm assuming this isn't a big deal so long as I don't offroad or do a top speed run.

This puts a pretty big hamper on buying two tires for the moto.

that sucks. I rode around with a non-standard size tire on my subaru for a couple days once..but you're really not supposed to do over 55 on them, and i wouldnt take any corners hard

I'd say that you're fine to drive until next Friday. Just don't drive like an asshat and try to carpool with others when possible.

I guess I'd try it too. Make sure it's pumped up to whatever 60+ PSI it recommends since I guess heat is going to be its biggest problem. At least it's the same diameter, so I guess it could be worse.

You'll be fine until your next paycheck. Just like these guys said, no aggressive driving and try to avoid freeways if you can.

I'm in a colossal shit storm of things breaking and needing replacement in the last couple of weeks. Lost iPhone, golf bag came apart while walking the course, couple of other things. Naturally they occured in the order of least important first so when the car tire went I was low on funds for the pay period. And there's that whole thing of just paying $3600 for classes for my MBA.

Thanks though, asshat that doesn't share his Neo-Geo.

They say 50 miles at 50 mph... but I've known people who used them for a month.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

It will last right up until it pops, which is probably a lot longer than the 50 miles they state on the tire.

Just don't drive like a jerk.

Also, you should put it on a non-drive wheel if possible.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

That's a good idea, I'll swap it to a rear wheel. The owner's manual said emergency driving only if I had a MT because it would harm the diff, but it didn't mention the AT at all.
