Reviving this thread as I've had the car a blissful four weeks, and it's now crippled as a result of some 3rd world driving tactics. I was driving through a green light, and Camry decided to take a left from the oncoming direction into me and struck me in the driver's side rear wheel. My car is disabled in the intersection and my friend and I go to check on them. They have a child in the back seat and we ask if everybody is OK. The passenger exclaims, "we're fine, but the child is crying. Didn't you see us?" WTF, I almost lost it as it was obvious who had the right of way and I couldn't believe the audicity and the smirk from the passenger. Driver didn't speak English, but she did have insurance (that or her husband's car had insurance). I suppose her towel was blocking her vision.

I now have a broken suspension, damaged wheel, and clamshell. I have no idea what else is damanged (probably replace the Ohlin damper) - but it's not going to be cheap since the dealership has the car now. So, it looks like my Elise will be a short-termer - now awaiting an Exige conversion. Stay tuned...

Anybody want to take the over/under on the repair costs? I'm guessing $15K...

I'm going to head up to the shop tomorrow to take some photos... the car will be lonely amongst all the Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys, and whatever else they have there at Symbolic. LOL

No police reports in CA are issued unless somebody is injured. Officer was pretty clear to acknowledge that she was at fault (I was going straight through a green light). Unfortunately for the insurance companies, that means more work for pointing fingers, but I'm not concerned about who's going to come out on top here. I have to foot the bill for the rental car for the time being until her insurance company takes over the reimbursement process.

really sorry to hear this John. i've heard loti (?) are pretty expensive to fix what with the bonded chassis and plastic body. i really hope everything is set right for you. people can be phenomenally retarded sometimes.....i hope they pay for their screw up in a big way.

After many months of false promises and waiting, I was given the green flag to pick up the car - heading up in a few hours to pick little car up. Anybody want to guess the final price tag? Here was the damage. (Note: rear left suspension was damaged and subframe had to be replaced)
