Feersty Wrote:13 folks in 2 h0tel rooms. Gotta love it. Well when you take into account that one room was for two officials and we had some non workers sleep there, and then you had another room that was designated for four actual workers and then they let non workers crash there it's not all that bad. The non workers could have just as easily paid for their own room and not have had the whole "cramming" of people into rooms.
Note: I'm extremely bitter about this weekend so if I come off sounding like an ass about things, eh so be it, I'm just tired of hearing people complain about what they're getting for free.
We did try to get a room, but they were all full (as was every other hotel in town).
It was just poor communication on our part all the way around - the drivers and non-workers should have reserved a room well ahead of time, but we dropped the ball.
If you guys want a room for VIR, then reserve now if its not already too late. I've got one, but i'm pretty sure all the space is spoken for.

I was a worker also, so there were 5 of us. I also got signed off by Linda for working in Timing and Scoring on Saturday and Sunday.

Has a VIR thread(25 July) been started yet? I would like to work that weekend.

NASA provided what it promised, one room for two officials, and then one room for the 4 pre-approved workers. You got added at the last minute because they apparently realized they needed some additional help. There was sufficient room to put you in one of the rooms supplied by NASA for the night. If people who's room is paid for by NASA choose to allow people who would otherwise have to pay for their room to stay with them then there's no reason to complain, you brought it on yourself. Hell I had to share a bed with Gerald Sat night where I had a nice bed all to myself Fri night, do you hear me complaining. I mean sure he is dead sexy and all, and we all love ourselves some G-Dawg, but seriously, how are you gonna complain about letting your room be crammed by non-workers when you allowed it yourself.

VIR is not the 25th, that's the auto-x in petersburg. VIR is the following weekend.
I'm happy i got a room, if i didn't it was the car at the track for me . I think it's a great deal of what NASA gives us

Sitting in air conditioned comfort "helping out" = worker credit?

Air Conditioner did not work on saturday, it was hotter inside than outside. Mike, Jay, and Boobies also worked in Timing and Scoring and received credit for it, so what is the difference.

Well, I for one am not complaining too much. I got to enjoy walking around the hotel on Fri night and giving the registration desk the inquisition so that I could try and get ahold of you guys so I could stay in your room. Alas, nobody was home so I just slept in my car at the track. Now, before you start whining, I don't see why there would be any reason to bitch, since I had no intention on sleeping in any beds this weekend and thus brought a blanket and pillow with the full intent on sleeping on the floor. Instead I got a car seat on Fri and Maeng graciously shared his bed with me on Sat night. I might also point out that the "worker" room had 3 cots and 2 beds, nobody slept on the floor, nobody bitched about it, and as far as I can tell we all got a good night's sleep. The non-workers did make the attempt at getting a hotel room, but that was just not possible.
Dave Wrote:Well, I for one am not complaining too much. Never said you were complaining at all Dave, I was talking about Rob's previous comment that seemed to be a complaint. If it wasn't, the I apologize for my reply, as I said I'm in a really bad mood as a result of this weekend so I may be reading things wrong. Next time ya show up Fri, just call our cell phones, get the #'s beforehand, but don't bother with Ryan's cause he never picks the bitch up.

If the goddamn thing worked........

Uhhh, Let me officially apologize to Dave, I just checked my voice mail this morning and had a voice mail from him Fri night. Sorry man I didn't recognize the # and didn't think to check the voice mail cause I figured it was my friend from Virginia Beach calling. You're added to the phonebook now so I'll answer when ya call. Sorry bout that.
Fucking sprint.

This was not a complaint, I was happy just to get a bed. I also brought my rollout pad if I had to sleep on the floor. Were folks sleeping on the floor in the other room? It was fun to watch Chapelle Show with everyone.
Matt what was it that got you mad? I am sorry if it wasn't as enjoyable for you. I know you are very reliable and dedicated to NASA. Even when Grid requires working in the hot sun all day. Good JOB.

Chris and Laura will be formally notified of my concerns via email this week, and if there's a change great, if there's not then NASA will be seeing a lot less of me. I make pretty decent money at Allsports for very little effort, and I'd much rather be making money then dealing with what I delt with this weekend. It's nothing personal against anyone within MM, or within NASA, it's a general feeling.
Room situation was fine. It is has been a general understanding that drivers are welcome to sleep in the worker's room as long as they understand that they get the shittiest sleeping available. We had tons of cots, we had beer, we had fun. No complaints here... Grid? Yeah, it can be a mess and I think it can be handled, we just need to get things straight. Lack of communication is a nightmare for all things track related.

yup, i agree. Working grid was kinda fun since it was new to me, but i regret sending one instructor out on the track when the pit-out guy told me afterwards that i wasn't supposed to. I did however watched down the track at turn 10 to make sure no one was coming down the straight for the all-clear, i couldn't find the pit-out guy. I think it's gracious that nasa provides the workers with hotel rooms plus credit and other benefits of being there, i like it!
sorry you didn't have a good time or anything Matt

sorry you didn't have a good time or anything Matt No worries about what you did dude, Drew can be a bit of a NAZI when it comes to things. You couldn't find him, and you didn't want that instructor waiting, and you checked, you did your job right. Grid workers double as pit-out workers all the time.
MichaelJComputer Wrote:Lack of communication is a nightmare for all things track related. Oh so true. Whether it be in car, withing the club, or within the organization, the most important element to making things go smoothly is that communication is clear and timely. I didn't communicate my presence in Winchester on Fri night until 11:30 = me sleep in car. No worries Matt, I slept fine and everything worked out great. I even had a bitchin paddock spot just in case I couldn't ever find the club's I shoulda gotten in touch with you guys ahead of time so that we could have worked out the finer details.
Most importantly, lets learn from things that went wrong this weekend and fix them for VIR. We're lucky that Slummit is close to us and things can be worked out. VIR is a hell of a lot further away and is not nearly as easy to compromise on things.
Instructors are smart enough (usually....) to check the track before hopping on so no worries Jay
