i say do what you want - this is a great time to explore and travel if you can. i took a drive across the country and i wish i took more time off. obviously finding others to do this with and funding are factors that will help, but you have options.

you could always start with the grind and work, but that's up to you.

Get the fuck out of here, you can't take that seriously. Charlotte is 71st in terms of singles? Spend one night in uptown and you'll run into several hundred hot ass southern girls that are single (and of all ages if you like cougars like me!) and aren't complete bitches like the girls up in NoVA and DC. There are WAY more hot girls compared to mingers when you go out here and they're more willing to talk to you as opposed to jumping right out and asking how much money you make.

I'm going with quality over quantity on this one. All of my friends agree.

You can show me studies all day long from statistics nerds who crunch numbers based on the number of romantic restaurants in a city, but every single person from VA who has stayed with me agrees that C-town destroys anything NoVA has to offer. Quoted from my brother who is visiting for the summer just a few minutes ago: "Girls are hotter here and aren't dumb bitches like they are in DC"

I really don't want to offend, but...

Posting on the MM forum about how you're living at home, not working, and bored would pretty much completely rule you out of any kind of position or job that I would consider you for. If that's the kind of attitude you maintain in your other interactions, you may have a hard time finding anything interesting or fulfilling.

My advice - quit whining, be proactive, daring, and take advantage of this unique nexus of youth and irresponsibility.

I will echo what Scotty said and recommend that you get a job that maybe you wouldn't normally do. Try doing something you're excited about even though the pay may not be great. If you want to get into the automotive industry or motorsport now is the time. You don't have any commitments and you don't have the golden handcuffs yet. Or go work abroad as an English teacher (Japan, Europe, etc.).

If you're thinking about joining the military you might wanna take the ASVAB (written skills assessment test) to see what operational specialties you qualify for. If you qualify for some cool careers take a stab at that.

You didn't say what your major was though so those are some ideas of the top of my head.

Until I got my current job I was actually all setup to go teach english abroad in China for a year. I can trying getting you in contact with this guy, I met him at my stay in Wahei University and thats where I was offered the job, no chinse language experience needed (although I would suggest brushing up on some terms so you can easily order lunch/dinner. But then again its only a few things you "really" need to know. And chinese isnt nearly as bad as youd expect, aside from getting the Tones right.

Do something crazy, I kind of debating stopping the job I have and doing something more fun, I got the rest of my life to be working on excel spreadsheets all day.

I actually love doing excel, kind of obsessed now, the possibilities are endless. But I know ill probably get bored 10 years down the line.

and I agree, Charlotte is pretty pimp. If I could find a badass job down there (havent really searched but ive been told that it sucks right now for finance guys), I would totally go down there. Yeah Nova has tons of girls and its not hard to meet them, but goddamn they are either A) Stupid B)Golddiggers C)Taken. And im referring to the majority here, I have found others its just the majority. Girls down in NC have just seemed more relaxed and laid back than in NOVA. But then again, so did I, NOVA is stressful.

search for jobs in a city you think you would like to live in. i for one would like to transition to either Boston or San Diego / anywhere in California (despite the idiots running that state).

i also wish i did this. i limited myself to the washington, dc area because of the abundance of Gov't contracts and i kinda wish i moved away. planning it after you've started working is a little more difficult, especially with any lease arrangements you may have at the time.

Hate to agree but true. But I've been married way to long to be of any accurate info.
