I wish I could afford the payments/insurance/maintenance on an M5, but alas I had to "settle" for its little brother...

Got a 2003 525i manual transmission with 62,000 miles, silver with grey interior, and came with a 5-year powertrain warranty. It is, hands down, the nicest car I've ever had, and possibly ever ridden in. The interior is immaculate, exterior is in great shape (couple scratches, but nothing to really detract from the car) and it rides like a dream. BMW somehow managed to give it a suspension that is comfortable, yet responsive and confidence inspiring. They somehow made the 180hp that the 2.5L inline-6 produces feel like far more due to the incredibly broad torque band and smooth power delivery. The transmission is silky smooth and there are so many "little things" that I love that I'd be wasting my time to try to list them all. It's incredibly spacious inside, yet still feels like a small car. As for the exterior, well, I've love this style of 5-series for so long that I can't remember, so this is a dream come true in that category as well.

In short, not since I sold my Supra have I had a car with the creature comforts, speed, and overall enjoyability that made me just want to sit in it and melt the miles away. Now, I've got one that is far more practical in so many aspects.

Guhhhhh. Congrats Dave!! I'm jealous - the E39s are one of my favorite 'all-around' cars. M5 or not, they look good and are a decent size, too.

Now post some pictures with sunlight Big Grin

The car drives like an absolute dream (and all it cost me was a LS1 drive Wink ). The handling is firm and responsive, power is there (although it still needs boost) and the comfort is 2nd to none. A great purchase at a great price...I can't wait to put shaving cream and tie cans to the back of it!

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
