What I've been doing...
#1
To take my mind off all that life has been offering me lately....

Too many beers while cutting the grass resulted in this:

A little bit bigger with filter and waterfall filter in place:
[Image: Koi%20pond%20a%20bit%20larger%20with%20s...rfalls.jpg]

Filling it up and adding stone:

Testing out main waterfall:

Both waterfalls and some landscape:

Very cool, looks great!

I did one a few years ago for my wife but I really need to redo the waterfall. I used one of the tiered hard plastic things from Home Despit and it's pretty cheesy, not very "real" looking.

Is your waterfall dug out of a mound then lined in the matting? I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep the water where I want it go and keep it looking natural...

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...

Took me in all about 3 weeks just to dig and level the ground. I worked on it when time permitted. 1 word: tiller. It helped loosen all the compacted clay. The filter system was purchased from www.webbsonline.com . I bought the FILT27 kit. It came with the pump, skimmer and waterfall filter. I added some additional filter media to assist in cleaning the water.

I will post a pic of the stream I created for the second waterfall. The main waterfall I dug out of the mound I created from removing the dirt from the deep sections of the pond. I purchased a large enough liner to cover the entire pond and also the mound of dirt. I didn't want create a need for seaming the liner.

If I build another, it will be larger. I figure this one to be about 2000 gals. I would at least double that. It doesn't cost much more to make a bigger one.

Looks great man! That's a ton of work.

Our good friends in VA had a professionally made watergarden / artifical stream & waterfall done in their back yard. It is pretty phenomenal. I'll try to see if I can snap some pics of it when I head back to VA for a wedding this summer.

no mosquitos, water moves too fast, not stagnant.

probably about 4 feet high, around 30 feet wide is my guess. no stone yet, its for function first not looks so going to build it with lumber and finish it with stone on top for looks.

wont start it until my knee heals so probably a month or so.
