Tomorrow (5/24) - Autocross in Winchester
#1
Sorry this is last-minute. I figured those out by Winchester may be interested though. The DC Benz Club is putting on their first autocross of the season tomorrow.

Location is Millbrook High School in Winchester. No pre-registration, show up at 8 AM with $30 in hand. That money will get you at least six runs, with an instructor if you're a n00b and want one.

Hopefully I'll see some of you out there, but if not, DC region of SCCA is hosting their 2nd event next Sunday (the 31st) at FedEx Field. I know quite a few MMers will be at that one, so I'll see everyone there!

Just got home from this, and had a pretty good day. The course wasn't too challenging. It was kinda fast in parts, which I'm sure the big V8 Benzes appreciated. My biggest deficit was my tires. The mighty Riken Raptors have fallen, ladies and gents. Time to order new rubber.

Aside from sliding due to a complete lack of grip, I was pretty smooth and consistent. Got three runs in the morning for practice, then four runs this afternoon for times.

It was awesome watching the club members bomb around in W140 sedans and W124s. The W140s are huge - just ten inches shorter than a Town Car. The V8s sounded glorious, as did the 16V motors in a few W124 cars.

I'm waiting for some pix from a guy I met today - left my own camera at home - but I'll post a few up once I get them.

pick up some cheapo-as long as it's 4x100-35-30 offset 15" wheels and start picking up trashed road race rubber up at Summit. There's going to be a big SCCA race there the 30th and 31st. People with tire sponsorships will often pick up new rubber and either leave the old by a garbage can (good as long as it aint corded!) or leave it with the tire-dismounter for him to sell cheap. It's actually easier and cheaper to find 205/50R15 rubber than anything in the 14" range, and that way you won't shred the allseasons. When not racing, stack the rims up as barstools in the livingroom.
Went to Motormile today with the BRRSCCA, saw a few MM'ers there, good job out there guys! Bumpy course but using the banked tun was pretty neat. Concrete walls added a little bit of risk into the mix but nobody had any Ricky Bobby moments...thenagain I left during fun runs so who knows!
