Just to introduce myself. My Name is Drew and I'm a sophomore at James Madison. Planning on Joining MMsports this coming semester can't wait to meet you all. Jack has told me all about it and it sounds like it's a lot of fun. Here are the pics of my newly acquired 240sx.

What no love for those of us who are non-students and non-alumni. That's it, next time you're at a NASA event I'm having you stuck on the corner furthest from the paddock (and will have a sensor in the bucket to tell me when you fall asleep).

Welcome Drew!

I checked out your cardomain page, and let me say that with the exception of the RB26DETT (which you should forget about) everything you want to do, I've done to the car. If you need any help, at all, with anything (and you'll need help for the 5 lug) I am more than willing to assist you.

You should forget about the TT because:
It's expensive.
It's hard to fit in (need an R32 subframe)
It's expensive.
It won't clear the steering column with twin turbos.
It's expensive.
It's nigh impossible to get parts for.
It's expensive.
And finally, you shouldn't do it because it's expensive. Really, really expensive. An RB25 is a little less expensive, and a little easier to install, but still rediculous. A chevy small block is both cheaper and easier to install, with more power to boot.

Smile

Also, can I drive your car? My coupe, sadly, didn't have HICAS, and I'm really hoping yours does so I can feel what it's like. Smile

And welcome to MM!

haha, thanks for the input. The whole rb26 is way in the future and most of the other stuff ain't too near either. All the stuff is pretty expensive and I just spent most of my money I made this summer on buying the car in the first place. Should be an interesting drive in the snow, it sure is in the rain.

Also, thanks for saying you'd help. I'd definetly need it for most of the work. I'm new to this stuff and it would be great to get the help of a fellow S13 driver.

Surely you can drive my car (you drive stick right? j/k). No idea what HICAS is but would like to know. Also, about how much did you spend for your VLSD? I need to know about how much I need to save up. Thanks.

I did my five lug and 300ZX brakes (front and rear) for just over 800 dollars. But that was one helluva deal, and honestly, if I were you I'd nearly double it. S14 SE front hubs and spindles are pretty rare. They make some aftermarket 5 lug kits for ~500 dollars. That'd be my advice.

The LSD cost me 250...shipped. Again, a stupid fantastic deal. Expect to spend 300...and go ahead and get the J30 one. It's easy, all J30's had LSD's, and you can just get the axles with the diff for easy-installation.

The suspension was the easiest. I mean, it's just easy, once you get a big, fat, iron Persuader.

My short shifter was 50 dollars. I can get you another one for the same price. It's freakin fantastic. Best performance-for-the-money mod I've made. I've also got the low-profile H9 pop-up headlights in the works, but I'm working on that. It'll be the high king of hotness when I'm through.

HICAS is the Nissan four wheel steering, but to call it four wheel steering is giving it too much credit. Think of it more as "active rear toe". If you have an S13 hatch SE, you ought to have HICAS, and you ought to have an LSD already, too. But if you don't have an LSD, you ain't got HICAS. There's should be a light on your dash that says "hicas". That'll tell you if you have it or not.

And yeah, I can drive a stick. Learned how on a 1982 Chevy Luv diesel pickup truck. I also drove my car all through last winter.

Hmmm... I'm intrigued... I honestly have no idea if the car has "hicas' or not... there's no light that says hicas but there is a red light by the steering wheel. I figured it was some BS security system light. No idea if it's got security system or how to turn it on. I'll go look at the car tommorow when I wake up. Yes, it is 4 30 in the morning, and it's about time I got to sleep.

I guess the only way to really test for the LSD is to put it on the jack and spin the tire. I'm pretty sure it's a fastback SE. The SE seems to be stock, doesn't look like an "addon job".

The whole thing about "you can drive stick right?" was basically a joke. I don't see who in their right mind would buy a sports car in automatic. It just blows my mind that they even make them. Manual is just so much more pleasant to drive. Besides, it also adds a whole new dimension to those stop lights/signs on those steep hills :-)
