Which engine would you choose??

Only in making your throttle cable.

The manifolds are symmetrical. take off, flip around, reattach. The bellhousing pattern is the same as the vulcan/mazda V6, so you should be able to use a 3.0 ranger trans.

I mean, a SHO engine is going to cost you, what, 30 dollars? You should buy one and then find out. Smile

All the ports and bolt holes on the intake line up perfectly if you rotate it 180 degrees like that. Only modification necessary is you either have modify the top timing cover / throttle body to create enough clearance between the 2 or add a set of spacers between the intake and heads (available on Ebay the last time I checked) to create the necessary clearance. General maintenance parts for the motor itself (water pumps, gaskets, alternators, starters, plugs) are all available and not super expensive.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

So, I am clearly wrong about rotating the intake runners on the SHO engine and for that I apologize. That doesn't rule out the necessary custom work to put it in the car :-)

No need to apologize, lol. It wouldn't be any more custom work than any other engine, but by that same merit you might as well go with the engine with the best hp per dollar ratio.

Stick with the l28et megasquirt it and get a. 2in? metal headgasket they stopped making them I believe though, gotta get used, then t3\t4 down the road, last I heard l28ets could handle 350whp but maybe my memories fading...if you have the funds do the rb25 or rb26 (option 3) I take it, 240z's w RB are beasts and it keeps with the heritage l24,26,28 were the for runners of the modern RB the earlier skylines had l series in them. Ps I looking for a l28et in the next year or so, they are a pain in the ass to find in good shape cheaply.

back from the dead! :-)

Luckily I've got a 280zxt that runs (ran?) that I bought to swap in eventually. I'll prob go that route for a while for some easy and reliable power; just gotta get to the point of putting it in the car. Once the L28ET explodes/money is available, I'll go all-out on the engine...

L28et's are stout as hell engines man, they can handle a lot of hp, more than your 240z needs to be a balanced track slut, just makesure you get a good tune and a thick metal gasket. I love nissan turbo engines, always very overbuilt! I'm guessing option 2 was a sr20det right. Good to see another big Nissan fan around here
