How you talk in here determines whether people who have connections are willing to put themselves out there for you. If people are going to do you a favor, you'd get a lot farther by answering their questions and not being a smart ass.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
Maybe it would help if you could explain exactly what you've done in the past, so people could more accurately gauge your skillset, and how they would sell that to a prospective employer.
It's hard to tell an employer "This guy will do anything." I was in that very situation, where I was trying to get a job for a friend, and my boss was like "What do you see him doing here?" And I'm like "Fuck, I dunno. He could probably do anything, barring hard development." Well, that didn't fly. So what should I have told my boss if I were trying to sell YOU?

either that or a mutually beneficial referral bonus should suffice
but i agree, somewhat of a direction when interviewing is always better

Whatever man, You have no idea who I am. If you did you would realize Im a very driven person. Sorry for being a smart ass. Ill do just fine on my own.
Thought I might as well ask if anyone had connections. Didnt realize I had to impress people over a forum.

I dont want or ask for anyone here to sell me. I can sell myself just fine. Maybe it came out wrong when i asked if anyone had contacts at some places.

Right out of HS my dream was to work for autothority. I went in numerous times and they said they didnt have any positions. I wouldnt take no for an answer. They handed me over to the owner of the company. I knew if I just got my feet in the door I would prove myself and get where i wanted. I offered to work for free for a couple weeks to prove myself. I even offered to pretty much be a janitor. Sure enough I was there the next day cleaning floors, taking out trash and washing cars. Within about 3 days they came up to me and said you arent ment to do this and moved me up. Lost story short within about 3 months I was doing the job the wouldnt never have given me at first. After about a year I was as high up as I could be without running the whole place.
My whole point of saying I would be down to do anything in the company is because once i get my feet in the door i know i can and is alot easier to get where i want.

That's the thing people are trying to tell you d00d. If someone is going to use their contacts, they're basically making a recommendation for you... attaching their name to you. Since a lot of us on here don't really know you that well, we need to know what to say you're looking for and are good at.
We're not trying to bust balls, it's just how it works with business connections.

I don't think anybody is asking you to impress them, they're just asking you what kind of position (or at least what your experience is) you're looking for so they can help make the connection for you.
I understand that you're willing to do whatever you need to get your foot in the door which is an excellent attitude to have, but for the person trying to make the connection for you it's a lot easier if they can say, "Hey I know this guy who was a district manager for Chrysler who might be a good hire." And if they can throw in a word about what you did at Autothority all the better.
With what you've been able to do you're right, you could do it yourself. But why do it the hard(er) way when you can do it the easy(ier) way?

Well, dammit.
I mean, admittedly, I don't have a dog in this fight, but that's essentially what you're asking for, right? A mailroom position and you'll work your way to the top. Right?

Have you thought about looking at other industries? Automotive is in the pooper right now. I would think it would be hard to find ANYTHING there. Do you have skills you could apply to other types of jobs?

yea i have thought about other things, but my true passion is cars and working with stuff that you like, and is your hobby it just makes work that much cooler.
I guess I would be willing to try something else.
I have manager skills being that I was the corporate rep for the manufacture and managed close to 20 jeep, dodge, chrysler dealers.
I also have alot of experience with customer relations
