Well, when you guys have a project, you can waste your time all you want. I'll dig my holes the same day I decide to dig the holes. Obviously if I were digging in the front yard, or somewhere closer to the street, I'd call to have them marked.

FWIW, Miss Utility marked my yard recently and we had marks on the side and back of the house as well.

There's also that whole law requiring you to call thing.

i've driven 100mph a million and a half times without bending any metal. does that mean there is no risk?

I have had a busy month, unfortunately not on my deck. I did get the holes inspected friday, and passed. I had tried to get them inspected before, but it rained that day, and filled them with water, so the inspector wouldn't pass them...prick. So I spent a lot of time cleaning them out, borrowed a neighbors pool pump to get the water out. I am going to try to get the concrete in them within the next week or so.

I took off today and ordered a yard and a half of concrete to be delivered. I couldnt find my camera, so here's a text update:

I had 6 holes, about 2 feet in diameter, 30" deep. This calculates to roughly 2 yards if i was filling them up. I ordered 1.5 yards to save some money (333$) and filled them all most of the way up. They all have about 18" of concrete or more on them, depending on the slope. the hole with lowest elevation gets more concrete, ya dig?
I ordered a 3,000 lb mix, which means it can withstand 3000 psi before it'll crush. I poured it wet, and floated it down to make the surface "rough smooth.' I just cut up a piece of 2x4 about 18" long and did this by hand.

Next step..frame-up!
