I'm down in texas to test our FSAE car and for some general debauchery. We went karting last night and I got kicked out for hitting some of the plastic barriers with my kart. You could go full throttle through the fastest part of the track and track out would end up being just inches from the wall. Needless to say I'm sure not going to be scared of a plastic wall in a vehicle that I don't have to fix myself so I put my share of marks on the wall, apparently the employees didn't agree. One of the times I did make some pretty solid contact (really just noisy due to the plastic) with the wall though, but hey... karts fine... walls fine... I'm fine... so I'm ok with it.
I actually set FTD on a lap where I brushed the wall, so my argument is that if the fastest line involves brushing the wall maybe the wall shouldn't be there. Either way it was lots of fun and it made me wish I could make it down to some MM karting events in the near future.
