I'm guessing the same holds true as to why letters to parents haven't been that successful in the past. I agree with this statement. Its been several years and a few administrations since G has proposed the "go raise money and the alum will match" fundraising idea but I dont ever recall that program ever going forward. I think it was even brought up before the GRM $200X 4 Merkur project was even thought of and then banished from memory. As for donations from parents, I think 1 or 2 parents donated and to me, thats worth it. Now that we've got the "NASA Worker of the Year" title, I'd assume students' moms' and dads' would be pretty proud that their kids were involved with a group thats getting regional if not national attention. Maybe someoen can let The Breeze know about MM winning the award and also it'll probably show up in the next issue of GRM, I'm sure. Including copies of those articles with the letters would surely help.

All good points and ideas, thanks for your input.
I have the award in my possession and I immediately began pursuing having it displayed on campus over a week ago. Unfortunately, after asking two different student club offices, there doesn't seem to be any sort of trophy case on campus for clubs (something like the huge case JMU sports teams have in Godwin). We are currently renting a small space in a low-traffic area of Warren Hall, I may go ahead and put it in there but honestly its disappointing. Good idea with the Breeze, I'll get in touch with them.

We would like to thank all of you for the contributions we have received during this recent fundraising drive. As of now we are financially secure and we will be working up other fund raising initiatives in the future. The cost of running the club has not been kept aligned with the rising costs of the events and initiatives we have been trying to bring to the club. These are concerns we will address and welcome any and all input through PM. Thank you again for your generosity and response.
