One speaker cutting out?
#1
So I was driving back to JMU today, and about 15 minutes into the drive, my front right speaker cut out. The other three were fine. After about 5 minutes, it came back on and stayed on for about an hour and a half. At that point, I pulled off the highway for a ba├▒o break (i.e. ~5 minutes). Restarted the car, all four speakers were fine still.

Drive for another ten minutes or so, and the same speaker cuts out again, and stays out for the remaining 20ish minutes of my drive. I swung by my dorm to unload stuff, then got back in the car to park it, and all four were working again.

This is the first time this has happened, but it's definitely bizarre. I don't think it's the wiring, since bumps aren't affecting anything from what I can tell. Head unit, maybe?

I have the stock Ford CD/Cassette combo deck, which looks like this for reference:

Ideas would be appreciated... it's annoying to only have 3 of 4 speakers going.

It is losing signal. Wiring would be the first thing to check. I'd start at the speaker. If that's solid, check the back of the headunit.

I would bet it is the speaker itself. The wires from the post to the cone have a tendency to become weak and cause the speaker to cut out.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Hmm. Well, I guess I'll be taking a look at the speaker then. The speakers are fairly new compared to the car... I put them in about a year and a half ago, so I'd hope the wiring from post to cone didn't get funky. Hopefully it's just the wiring from the h/u to the speaker that came undone or something.
