This is exactly what happened to my old iBook. I took it through an airport and it wouldn't boot on the plane. I took it to a private mac repair shop in California and had it repaired for about 75 dollars. I wish I could tell you what the specifics were but I know no hardware was replaced...

I've seen logic boards on ebay go for $300ish. So yeah they're not cheap. Selling this for a friend. I told that dummy to get a real laptop, but he wouldn't listen, now look what happened.

I think he said he was gonna get charged $400 for repair.
