Seperate forum for projects

Would make it a lot easier to see what people have been working on even if they havn't updated it in a while.

I talked it over with all the officers and a couple alums after reading this. Seems like most think its a waste of forum space and that is what tech is for. I personally don't care and wouldn't mind it...it might make the tech more useful for smaller projects.

It's pointless. It'd just be another infrequently used forum. Look at the tech section now; in the last week 7 threads have been posted in, less than 20 threads posted in the month of September. Towards the bottom of the very first page are threads that haven't been posted in since July. There is no sense in making yet another forum.

I agree, useless. If people would just put a TAG like PROJECT: in the subject then it could be easily searched to bring up all project threads.

Can we use another search engine? I tried looking for RJ's transmission thread the other day and came up with nothing

I think it would be a great idea once our club becomes so large and active that technical discussion is actually busy. Personally, I like Chad's idea on tagging and have been doing that for the past few years (though it's usually spelled wrong :-) ). It would make searching a breeze as well.

I'd also be inclined to encourage anybody with a project going on to make a link in their signature so that people can jump right to it.

I don't see the need for a Projects forum, but the actually creation of such a forum wouldn't take more than 10 seconds or so.

And Andy - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2575&highlight=transmission">http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... ansmission</a><!-- m --> . I searched "transmission", limited by .RJ as the author and only searched in Technical Discussion. phpBB's search engine isn't Google but it does work - sorry.

You could also use Google to search only MMSports - just add site:mmsports.org to the beginning of the search string.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

The point isn't to have a super active forum segment but one that seperates the projects from he rest of the technical discussions. If that does not appeal to anyone forget it.
