Go fuck yourself Apple. They can kill my service or even disable the phone, but legal trouble? GTFO

Are you new to apple? Wink

They have always been extremely restrictive on what they allow you to do with your own hardware, used proprietary closed standards, hardware, etc etc.

i understand the idea of used proprietary closed standards, similar to what Sony did with the MiniDisc and their downloading site using their music file format and various other programs, but i think this is different. Now instead of taking a passive approach to control, it seems they're taking a more aggressive approach by trying to punish people who have tampered with devices that don't belong to Apple anymore. Denying service - fine; not supporting and voiding warranties - fine; going after people for making changes to the hardware that they purchased?? - not ok.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Oh I completely agree Jayray. Im just saying the more jaded among us saw this coming.
This is also a company who sues their own 'fans' if they come across a leaked rumor.

DMCA is an outrageous assault on a person's rights. It was successfully used a few years ago to sue people who used printer ink refills that were not made by the printer manufacturer. (because the ink cartridge had a small chip on it)

RIAA was/is busting people for stealing copyrighted work. Which they should be doing in an effort to protect the producers of the work.

RIAA has also tried to assert that you can't move files among electronics you own, even though you bought the CD.

RIAA does not prosecute music downloaders as of a couple months ago IIRC.

Yeah... just saying it's our new RIAA. IOW, an entity threatening legal action for what should probably be considered fair use.
