BMW 325is E30 Project

Dan, Chan, not sure if you guys made the connection but we all tailgaited at Homecomming this past year. Dan/Andera, Channing/Jess. Channing tackling random people...

Chan (BlingMW) knows his BMW's so I'd listen to most of what he says. He tends to throw in demonic wishes of death occasionally, and thus why I say "most." ;-).

I am going to stick with the "strip it, cage it, paint it, and rebuild it" statement though. You'll have about the same amount of time/frustration/investment (ha) in it as doing it a piece at a time. And in the end, if for some reason the go-fast-crack-pipe isn't for you, the car can be sold as a more professionally built car than one that's been pieced together.

I forgot to mention, the fast guys remove the braking system entirely for weight purposes and rely only on the ebrake.

That's certainly a good point. I often don't consider resale since I plan on wrecking.

Ha ha! RJ and I went into T10 at Summit part of my brake system removed on the prior straight stretch. Guess that makes us "fast guys!"

BlingMW - We could work out some kind of trade I think. I would like to have the detachable kind. Nice chatting with you again!!

Yes, 33W is awesome. All of that land isn't mine. Mostly the yard and a few manure-covered acres are mine. The farm in the photo is my Father's place.

But, I will say that the view is awesome and the stars are bright, even if it isn't in Harrisonburg. Staunton is not that far away from the berg.

white_2kgt Wrote:wow, that actually looks pretty solid, interior looks like ass, but that's all got to go anyway, that will be a fun little project. Now get it up on a lift and powerwash the underside, I know someone who's VERY good at it, lol.

That's a good assessment. The interior does look terrible.

Not sure if that other fellow is going to even WANT the seats.

Powerwashing the underside is a good idea. Yesterday I sprayed the engine with degreaser and did the very first preliminary washing. What a mess.

And, how am I supposed to work on this thing if there is no room for my arms to fit between the engine and the firewalls?

I don't think I need a lift. I think I need skinny arms with 18 elbows.

Yes, I misinterpreted.

I still think it's eitirely much more fun if you buy me a new racing wheel and I'll give you my old one.

That's called welcoming a new member to the group!

Chan, really you shouldn't have.

I'll PM you my mailing address or you can just give the new racing wheel to Peter and he'll get it to me.

Seriously man. Cry I'm tearing up here.

You love me. You really really love me.

It's putting parts in a car that you can't see that Pete's good at.

Want a nut put on a bolt 6 feet inside a crossmember that is 2" square?

Peter can do that.

Hey Dan!

I know its been a while since you posted all this but I'm just getting back on the forum. Great looking project E30! I'd love to give you some advice on building it, so feel free to email me anytime: c.procopio@gmail.com. I can give you info on parts and things I bought for my car. I can also tell you what to avoid and things I would have done differently. Good luck!
