Battery finally gave out on my IS... 5 years later!
#1
So as it's gotten colder and colder here, my IS has gradually taken longer and longer to start. Finally today, at 17 degrees on the thermometer, my OEM battery gave up the ghost.

I took my girlfriend's b00sted '06 Volvo S40 up to NAPA and picked up a new battery, swapped it out, and brought the core back. I knew it was an OEM battery but I asked the guy at the counter if he could tell how old it was. He said it looked to be from 2002! I thought that was pretty impressive that it lasted that long.

My original battery on the supra finally gave up in 03, 10 years later!!!! That was nuts. Best part is that it actually exploded, instead of just fading away. Still don't know what caused it...

We see a fair amount of cars at work with the original battery in them. Most of them would test bad, but would probably start the car for a few more years. That being said, we don't see many cars that are much more than 7 or 8 years old.

I just had to replace the oem battery on my STi, but I think that's because there was a bad connection with the remote feed from my amp that just left it running constantly.

The second Toyota I have heard of a battery exploding in...pretty soon they are gonna be those unreliable battery-exploding import cars! Tongue
