After your first job nobody cares, but if you plan to go to grad/law, etc., school, grades are almost everything. Now, when I was applying for law jobs, it was necessary to put your GPA/rank on your resume, or else your interviewer assumed your GPA/rank was low. But again, grades mean nothing after your first job. It's all about experience and networking.

my experience: Booz asked the first time they hired me - straight out of school. Didnt ask the 2nd time (I dont think)
No one else has asked, other than my most recent job, which is a company based in England, which according to my interviewer over in fish&chips land they put much more importance on academic status symbols such as GPA, degree/doctorate, and the university you graduated from.
