Seriously Dave, having fast cars here would cause chaos. They'd probably barbeque your ass for ruining their way of life.

I saw quite a few Nissan Micras over the holiday break when I went to Ireland and Germany. They remind me of a Toyota Echo, small car with real high center of gravity. But one of those Micras with a Z engine has got to be ridiculous.

One of the nicest cars I saw over there during the break was actually in the Manchester, UK (yes home to the United soccer team) airport. There was a company called Best of the Best Supercars, and they were selling tickets for a chance to win a 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4s. They had the car on display and it is simply a work of art, too bad it was right hand drive. The company also had an advertisement up and other notable cars they gave away such as Aston Martin DB7 Vanquishs, lots of M3s, and even 2 Lambo Murcielagos.

Back from the dead like Tales from the Crypt!

I'll have to test drive one if they do an arrive and drive event or when the initial fervor dies down. Apparently they sold 4000 of them in one week so it looks like they'll easily meet their sales target of 48k/year. I suspect it'll get between 75k and 100k annually.

i wouldn't be so sure... those numbers will not keep up once the initial wave dies.

Well no, if 4k a week kept up we'd be looking at 208,000 per year. I think it will fall between 75k and 100k, especially considering gas prices and the fact that the Fit is the best in the segment by a good margin (if you're to believe C&D).

They don't have the scores on there but I think the Fit won by like 25 points.

Ive never like C&D comparos. Often the reviewers are too narrow-sighted, biased, or flat out head-up-their ass. Ive noticed that comparo results often coincidentally coincide with the number of manufacturers ads in the mag......do they win because they have ads, or do they put in ads because they won? who knows

For the most part it is true - But in this case, the Fit clearly outperformed every other car in the price segment by a significant amount in every category. Hard to argue with that, I think honda hit a home run with this one.

That would be a good project, do some statistics on the number of ads vs the finishing position of that brand in comparos.

I love all the new small cars coming out. As much as I'm pushing for a Miata, we'll probably end up getting an XA, Versa or Fit. To me the fit is hideous, reminiscent of a Suzuki shitbox, though everything else about it I like. I haven't seen a Versa up close but the interweb pics are pretty sweet and the available options can make it pretty nice and no so econoboxy. My mom bought a XA and it's pretty cool. It has good power, good seats, and some cool options. The sightline is great and the seating position is pretty high so you still seat around normal cars.

The Fit is go!

If not for my new house payment being so large, I'd get one as my Richmond-to-DC commuter car.

i remember when the STi and the evo came to the states at the same time and every car magazine under the sun did a comparo of the two. the evo won most of the "tests" that they did but all the editors in their comments preferred the STi despite the evo winning. this was also the time when mitsu was littering all those magazines with ads, 2fast2furious had just come out with a heavy emphasis on the new mitsu eclipse and they ran car ads on tv on every station during every show

I dont really see myself ever actualling buying one - for the price I think you can get a relativly comparably equiped civic - minus storage space I guess - so I don't see the point in them, their MPG isnt really any better than a civic

Nah a Civic for $13k would be a DX and that basically has no amenities in it. When you compare the Fit Sport with maybe an LX you still get a few things in the Fit you don't get in the Civic but the Civic is a larger car (seating space wise).
