I dunno if any of you guys have seen this stuff in automotive stores, it comes in a silver can and you add it to your oil and supposedly it will restore compression. They had some pretty cheesy graphs in a magazine that didnt look very convincing but i figured 5 bucks it was worth a shot. It also has a gaurantee that you feel a difference on engines over 40k within 500 miles of adding the stuff. I put this stuff in and about 2-300 miles later i definitely felt a slight difference. The car has more pickup at lower rpms and takes less gas to accelerate than before, also my car is consuming less oil which is an added bonus. Anywho i would recommend this to anyone who thinks theyre compression isnt what it used to be.

Temporary improvement != problem solved, nevermind the placebo effect.
I bet that by the next oil change your problem is right where it was, or worse.

hell yea, the placebo effect is great, but i gave one of my friends a ride in my car and they said it felt like i did some performance mod. Using the good ol butt dyno, the surefire way to measure things. Also, they say to add a can of it with each oil change. But yea, it definitely did some good on this ragged out engine. Oil change is in 900 miles so well see if it goes back to normal/worse.

addative = sure fire way to fuck over an engine... 100miles after my dad used "restore" in his 6 banger fairlane it went bye bye... i used something else in my mustang and she let go... then there was the Scirocco... since then i sware off that shit... at least the Scirocco and the Fairlane got new hearts... one a 519 cubic inch gas hog ... the other a VR6 (too bad i didnt do it)... and the mustang is just sitting right now... almost 9 years  oh well
I got some of that stuff, opened it up, and after seeing the molasses thick viscosity promptly threw it away.
Even my Dad (who knows nothing about cars) always told me to never touch that stuff.

any product that has an infomercial that shows how it works by a computer simulation makes me think that it doesn't work at all. other commercials that piss me off are that stp fuel injector cleaner that shows the two injectors (clean and clogged) next to each other, but they're computer simulated! another one is that lotion for dry skin and it shows some dude's arm with all these deep red scratches and then the computer simulation puts this film on and the red scratches go away!

All the stuff does is increase the viscosity of your oil - it's like the difference between burn off rates of regular oil vs. synthetic oil, except by adding the restore BS you have increased the viscosity of either type way beyond what is good for your piston rings. Just keep the oil changed and forget all that additive bull.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

To restore compression you would have to add metal to the internals of the engine to make the tolerances smaller. I doubt any additive has this magic property. Am I correct with this assumption?
