My gf's family just went out to Cali and rented a Prius while they were there. They averaged like 56mpg. You also have to understand that each of the hybrids have different systems favoring different types of driving. I got a detailed lecture on this from Vinny on the way to PTG. THe prius favors stop and go traffic, which is where it uses more of its battery. Thus giving it the somewhat backwards 60/51. The Insight favors gasoline more and thus yields an easier time on the highway giving it a 60 / 65. The civic hybrid is based on the same platform with a similar 46/51. I haven't read into the reports, but my GF's family is going to buy a hybrid when they move in sept and they definitely clocked the MPG and hit the EPA right on the dot.
My car hits the EPA right on the dot too... 196tq tho
