Thinking about getting out...
#41
If lap times were all that mattered I'd be fucked. I qualified 16th on Sunday and ended up finishing 3rd after 2 DQs. Granted there was traffic in qulaifying but there's just something about the motivation of racing that makes me brake later, lift less, get back on the gas faster and take risks I never thought reasonable.

DE is a bit like masturbation. Yeah it's fun and you may be able to do it quickly but in the end you're really only playing with yourself.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

i'm not worried about vandalism and such but my apartment property manager seems to like to threaten people with towing their cars if its being worked on a lot or doesn't run or hasnt moved in a long time and isnt registered with them. but i assume that a car cover would probably attract more potential vandals seeing as how most people in my complex are retarded uva college kids or community college dropouts

yeah, but its more expensive, i'm sure. i mean, if i had the money to build and maintain a racecar, then i'd most likely rent a storage area to keep it as that cost probably isnt too high relative to the car. but the bottom line is that i just wouldnt be able to afford racing 5-10 times a year and still enjoy the things i do every day or weekend

hooray for bartabs..

after a DE weekend my passion for doing more events, preping the car better is at an all-time high. But as time passes after the event, im just pissing money away at the bar, and other stupid shit.

so i guess i understand where Maeng is coming from, eventhough I'm not nearly as far long as he is, and others.

well, considering that c'ville has experienced one of the highest housing booms in what has been considered a housing boom in america, i cant afford a house right now. no houses in charlottesville proper have garages unless they are mansions. not many new houses are being built around here because the damn cville hippies protest any sort of development going on around here. most of the development here has been cookie cutter townhouses in shitty neighborhoods, some of which have garages. i dont feel like paying +$300k for 1200 sq ft of townhouse attached to two other townhouses and i also dont feel like moving 30 min away to be able to afford a decent sized house, so for now, i'll stick to my $350/month rent

blah blah blah

if NoVA has plenty of houses for rent with garages, C'ville sure as shit does.
If you want it bad enough you will make it happen. If not and you are happy where you are, thats fine too, just dont blame your situation or pretend its out of your control.

i gaurantee you that you wont find a house in cville with a garage for rent for under $1k a month. at that point, i'm going to buy instead of rent. (ir)regardless, i know its in my power to buy, but i feel the need to take care of a large chunk of college credit card debt and still live the life of a young guy while i still can

why would you rent a house by yourself?

MM House #2 rent is ~$550 / person

efficiency apartments in cville start at like $600. a buddy of mine owns a house about a mile away from my apartment, no garage, gravel sloped driveway, 3 BR, 1 BA, no AC and is renting it out for $1400 /month. houses with garages just arent common around here. you'd have to drive a bit out into the country to find garages and large sheds. my apartment may be small, but for $350 including util except elec, i wouldnt wanna move into a different more expensive place that still doesnt have a garage.
