How about some sort of paintball/moving vehicle combination? Think car chase / shootout...

i think the pit crew tire changing thing is pretty cool. i'm not so sure about refueling/paintball/anything that has a real liability attached for those that dont know much about road racing.

You guys are blowing this way out of proportion.
If you want to refuel in an enduro you need NO prior training, just a fuel jug and some sort of nomex suit and a helmet, and your name on the crew list. Thats it. And i've never seen anyone catch on fire, drop 10 gallons of fuel on the ground, or get whacked in the head with a fuel jug or fire bottle.

Yeah but you only go to one endurance race a year and we're talking about average people here, who may or may not have enough coordination and basic intelligence to not spill fuel all over the place. Gotta think about the lowest common denominator with this kind of thing.
Still, most fuel spills don't result in huge fires but you should probably have a few people with fire bottles just in case.

Most crew are friends, other drivers, etc.... You could do the pit crew challenge without a refueling stop anyways.

Yeah, I'll do the refueling

you guys need to go back to the core values of the intended audience.
They would rather be entertained than have to participate (most of the time) And their interests are fast cars and boobs. thats about where it ends. -"meet and greet" with import models (are there any there?) - Drift exhibition with well known drivers (in addition to the drift competition) - "tuner car showcase" if some tuner cars show up etc

JohnC Wrote:How about some sort of paintball/moving vehicle combination? Think car chase / shootout... I actually think that would be hilarious! Setup a tiny autocross course, have some of the rollover cars (before their main event obviously) take turns being the "lead" car, have another NASA official be the "chase" car driver, and let participants ride shotgun with a paintball gun. Of course, cleanup of a now multicolor parking lot that doesn't really belong to us might be an issue....

you are assuming the roll over cars will run more than the 2-3min total to get them up and over the ramp a couple of times.
rain will take care of the paint...

Or we could just use my car. and the paint really does wash up that easily? hmmmm.... Let's do it!

I was at Mid Ohio this week for the GrandAm/Rolex thing and they had a pretty packed event with lots of various activities. I didn't get to see any of them but here's what I remember from the PA system:
Scion car show (amazingly well attended) dB contest dB/Speed contest (loudest + fastest car won) Speed up/Slow down contest - it was a ~150 yard strip with a slolom course, had to accellerate, do the slowlom, and stop in a box. Best time won. The pit crew contest would be neat. On a more simple scale, just have a tire changing contest. Perhaps just set up a car on stands (very securly) and have a contest to see who could remove/reinstall the wheel the fastest. It *could* be a perpetual thing and just post results throughout the weekend or something. Winner getting free H-fest admission next year.

Anyone ever try to drink beer from a baby bottle?
 My babysitter actually gave me that idea......not sure what the connection to racing would be, but it would be kinda funny. Still looking for ideas if you have em.

Apparently there was a contest at a local bar recently where you had to drink a baby bottle of redbull. Quickest won.
