Got in contact with the shop the built the LT1 in the vette. She said she remember them putting in a mild cam and 40 over pistons. Any idea how much extra power this would result in? I believe a stock LT1 has 300 hp and 340 lbs trq. Maybe they will remember it more when I bring it to them.
.040" is nothing compared the the total bore of the cylinders - so I would say that you'll make the same, or maybe less. Specs on the cam?

Your vette has an LT1 swap?

A lot of vettes had LT1's in them. I dont know what year his is, but the early 70's vettes had them.

Sorry, I hear "LT1" and I immediately think of the Gen II block that powered F&Y bodies, not the 71/72 LT-1 in a 'vette.
GM needs to not re-use engine codes. Wouldn't we all be confused if Honda released a "new" B series?

I was not aware there was more than one LT1. It is NOT the stock vette motor for a 77 (owner blew stock motor). It's a 5.7L LT1 (C4 motor i believe) with a 4 bolt main. I think the stock motor was the L48. Even with the carb running shitty it feels way stronger than 180hp.

I WIN!
Why's it have a carb? If I were gonna swap...SPFI.

Is it a vortec style head? If you dont know, see if the intake bolts are angled, if they are, it is. ALso there will be a little saw-tooth type thing stamped on the end of the heads. I dont know crap about that carb except its a holley, so it sucks on gas hardcore, and it's probably a little small. I'd guess 225HP at the wheels if the cam is halfway decent, and the heads are vortec style - with decent size headers.

not sure, but pretty wide, a stock 77 tops out at 155 mph I think.
