One R1 LE... down

.RJ Wrote:So what happens when you're riding down the shoulder because you're too hot in your leather jacket, and you come up on a car broken down with a flat tire, and there's an ambulance coming up behind you?

go around the broken down car, traffic will open up for the ambulence because he has to go back into the main lanes, and then you get the hell out of the way of the ambulence by squeezing yourself in between cars or get into an open spot and wait till the ambulence passes. nice try

fyi - the bike was overheating, not me Tongue

Sounds like a recipe to get hit by a cage.... and what do you tell the cop "well, I was going down the shoulder, but then I heard the ambulance coming..."

Squeezing yourself in between cars with an ambulance coming? They're already going to be moving over, taking up the space between cars as it is... if you try to go through that, it would be a miracle you dont get hit.

i'd hardly call it a miracle. i have seen idiots on the highway that must've seen the ambulence traveling on the shoulder...then proceed to "get out of its way" by turning onto the shoulder (thus blocking it) - if that's what you're talking about. but maybe i wasn't clear - i meant going into the other lanes where traffic is already stopped and waiting there.

But if you were already in a traffic lane, you dont have to do anything... ultimately much safer than getting out of the way of an ambulance going 60mph down the shoulder.

true, but that wasn't the scenario Tongue

i also highly doubt the ambulence is traveling at 60 mph down the shoulder when traffic is stopped...

as a non bike rider, i dont mind if bikes park on the sidewalk. i dont think they're entitled to, but as a car driver, i do appreciate them not parking in the parking lot cuz i do get pissed if there's a bike in a car spot. but then again, lots of cville parking places have seperate motorcycle parking spots and a couple of lots allow bikes to park for free.

also, what happened to john seddon's truck?

Would you rather there be an ill parked Canyonero in the spot thats so far into the spot you want to take that you cant park there and have to park further away?

Anyone who complains about a bike in a regular parking spot is a bitch. Its a parking spot. Deal with it.

i just think it's the idea that they can park in another area that doesn't require as much space and it's not impeding traffic of cars or people. Unfortunately and obviously cars cannot do this due to their size. I would like to see more designated motorcycle parking though

well my point was that i'd rather have a bike on the sidewalk than in a parking spot. but as you said, it depends on the situation. if this lot has no sidewalk and no dedicated motorcycle parking, then i understand that its a motor vehicle and can be in a spot. i may not be happy about it, but its not like i'm gonna do anything about it.

and yes, i'd love to see a canyonero in any parking spot. just thinking of that song makes me laugh "twelve yards long and two lanes wide, the unexplained fires are for the courts to decide, canyonerooooooo yaaaaaaaaa"

I would too. I've had people complain at me in some parking areas/garages "you cant park a motorcycle in here" so I ask "where is your motorcycle parking?". This is usually followed by a blank stare and I park there anyways.

I remember looking at one of the hotels on bourbon street with a parking garage and said something to the effect of "due to space constraints no motorcycle parking is available"
