Ok so the bike did something weird tonight. As i was coming home, i stop at the red light next to the house... i hear a "click"... and bam i have no power for the bike... headlight, tails, it stops running. I push the stupid POS 200 yards to my house... and i find the main fuse, 30a, blown. anyone got an idea? fucking yamaha POS.

Are you sure you didn't ground some circuit while leaning the bike over so you could put a foot down?

right now, i think its the battery... there was some busted old walmart motorcycle battery in it... so i went to the Yamaha dealer, bought a factory unit and havent had an issue... yet. but i only took it around the block... so i dont know if thats a good judgement yet lol.

Honestly, battery testing just sucks. You can test one eight ways to Sunday and it can still be bad. I usually have two batteries and when I'm doing electrical debugging I put in the second one, which I know is good, for good measure.
Make sure you keeps tabs on your electrical voltages. A bad R/R can cause the battery to go south, and a bad battery can do the same to the R/R. If the R/R fails open you could fry a main fuse easily...
It wouldn't hurt to invest in a wire-in voltmeter just for that sort of reason.

i bought a 1994 FZR 600... presafety wired and all... i'll finish up the season on it and i might track it... i did get it running right by the way... just in time to go cruising with my dad tomorrow for fathers day... thats all he wanted to do!

hey i have a 97 yamaha yzf 750 and i had the same problem...the reason ur fuse box is messin up..coz its got some loose /bad wires goin into a fuse box...or...pull ur fairing down on the left side and look for a white plug connecting all the wires...either the wires r loose or the plug is burnt coz that stupid plug catches a lot of heat...if thats the problem ur best bet is to just get rid of the plug and run the wires staright if u dont wanna do that the only other way around it is that u'll have to buy a whole new wiring harness...and ya tape the wires going into ur fuse box ..the ghettl way to do it is that when ur bike stops once u hear the click take ur seat off shake the fuse box as soon as u get the neutral light...start and and don't stop till u get home....
