Five Italian Redheads

I know a lot of people are angry over the fact that F40, F50, and Enzo owners garage their cars and only drive them a few times out of the year, but I think the thing is you CAN'T drive them any more than that, unless you like being in a penalty box in traffic so to speak. I think the fact that you can see the glue holding the F40 interior together when you sit in it is a testament to that. These are by no means true road cars, they're spartan, loud, hot, and damned if you want an Italian gated shifter in traffic.

Thats why I want an F50 that i'd garage most of the year and only drive a few times Smile

Yeah but you don't see Ferrari owners at the track very often either. Owning a F50 or F40 and only driving it a few times a year would be like being married to a supermodel and only having sex a few times a year. In both cases I'd much rather have something less hot that I could enjoy more often.

That said, Ferraris are extremely fragile, high maintenance, and expensive and certainly wouldn't be my choice for for an exotic track weapon. A GT3 would do me just fine. I think the newer Ferraris are better in this regard but I'd rather wait until the next NSX bows or buy a Viper Competiton Coupe or something.

I dunno, I like old junk. I'm with Rex in feeling that they are very over priced and out of reach for a person of my means. I don't hate on them though. A friend of mine has a 60's Ferrari in his garage, and it is one mean motherphucker. The engine is two independent inline sixs that share a crank. Red leather interior with the pony on the ashtray and spotless silver paint. Pimpin wire wheels too. I forget how many MILLION it cost. But it was a few. There is something crazy rare about it...I forget what. His job is working on Ferraris and the like, he makes wiring harnesses and does all manner of electrical work. He also has a badass 80's 911 he is putting together. He bought it in boxes...shipped from Germany. Its like a big puzzle. I think there is more fun in an accessable, cheap, fun car that you can work on yourself. Even if/when I pick up an RT/10 I will be turning my own wreches and breaking expensive shit all on my own! Thats why I'm after a sub 2000 model Smile I can't wait to see where Chrysler and the SRT team go next with the Viper. They have got to go after the Vette and lower the price while increasing the overall performance. I think it will be cool to see where it goes.

Did a little research on the net. This is the car he has...

A 1961 Short Wheel Base 250-GT California Spyder.
When I say his...I mean a customer of his. The car cost 3 million I think after the restoration work was done. It is silver with a red interior and black top. The 911 mention above is his personal car as is a 9? Hype-R

Hahaha I did find the picture kind of ironic. Ferrari's mightiest cars in their natural environment: on a trailer.
That is so funny!
