holy shite that is ridiculous... i wonder how stringent their safety is? that thing crashing at top speed would be nothing short of catastrophic.

supah high speedo!!!

I didn't notice any turns, not even gradual ones. So I'm guessing it would go nearly that fast in normal conditions, unless they can get lines for it that are super straight. Still, that's an incredible speed.

It operates on a closed loop right now for demonstration purposes, so it doesn't actually take you anywhere.
The really cool thing is that the train doesn't have an onboard motor. The electrical current that powers the electro-magnets is sent down the track like a wave that the train rides along. There are way stations in close increments that can increase or decrease the power sent to the magnets in the 'wave.' There also isn't an onboard operator, everything is done remotely via a monitoring station. It's supposed to be an incredibly smooth ride, too.

We need one here... they could go even faster if we manage to properly develop superconductors, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. They just managed to create a superconductive fluid in lab conditions over the past month... in a railroad app? Yeah... maybe when we're 40.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.
