Power window Motor/Regulator
#1
So I go to get a state inspection the other day and the guy rejects it because the driver side window won't open. To make matters worse the douche bag leaves my other working window open....IN THE RAIN!....AHHH!!....Anyways, back to the matter at hand. This really burns me because not too long ago i replaced the driver's side window switch for like $200, now the motor fails on me. I remember talking to a guy way back telling me the motor and regulator are a single assembly and would run for about $700!!!! I accept that this car is dying, so I am not willing to spend $700 on a window for a car who's transmission might die any day now. I did find an internet sight that listed it for like $55 Cheap motor site That sounds a little too good to be true, not sure if I trust it. Even if it is legit, I was told this type of installation is not something to do without some specific knowledge. Does anyone know someone, either a shop or person, that could help me take care of this. Or, I guess another solution would be to find a guy who will pass the inspection no questions, which would be GREAT! Anyone got any suggestions? I only got like a week. Oh, btw its a 1996 Buick Riviera SuperCharged THANKS!

Try a junkyard for a used OEM part Smile They arent all that hard to replace.

the trick is getting the window aligned properly. Often the motor and regulator are seperate, but I've found that a lot of cars, especially those where power windows was just an option for some models, will have them integrated. Like RJ said, a good OEM part may be fairly easy to find at a junkyard.

I encountered this problem with the 240 when I bought it; the cable had snapped and a welded peg was holding up the PS window. I got an entire door assembly for $50 off a guy parting his car out (actually got both of them) and came and took the parts off myself. That is also another option, although it explains why my PS door is green and not black...:-D
