Where to service bikes in H-Burg?

Where do you guys get your bikes serviced?

I just bought a 2000 Suzuki GS500E, and I plan on replacing its front tire soon with an Avon AM51 ( http://www.ronayers.com/catalogs/tires/ ... 7&type=165 ).

I think Rob means Valley Kawasaki is just down on S. Main. Blue Ridge Cycleworks is further down 11, past exit 243, they service Hondas. Early's is Yamaha and any other brand not under warrantee I believe?

Blue Ridge is more expensive from my experience. However, I can certanily speak for their work. I have a 1974 Honda 125 Enduro that they tuned for me 4 years ago, and to this day it starts on the 1st or 2nd kick.

Earley's is less expensive. They only experinece I have had there is getting tires put on bikes and they did a fine job at that :-)

Did you buy the tires from Early's? Or did you buy online and bring them?

Nope! I don't mean to be vague, I jsut don't remember the exact specs. They were not for my CBR, my experience is with an older Honda CX500 cruiser and a Yamaha 550 cruizer. Somewhere around $120 purchased/mounted/balanced.

Oh, key point, I took the wheels off the bike and took just the wheels to Early's. If they have to remove the wheels it adds an additional $50 or so.

I can vouch for both Blue Ridge Honda and Early's. I know most of the parts guys at Blue Ridge, good people. I also had my new Michelin Pilot Powers (purchased at Blue Ridge, racer wholesale, gotta' love that!) put on at Early's. Did a great job, and yeah, seem to be a little cheaper and they'll work on just about anything. Good people too. As for the Suzuki dealership, my old man had a real nasty experience with those guys. Don't remember the details, something about the guy sold a used BMW out from under him, who knows, but suffice it to say he was PISSED. Never going back there again.

I took my bike to Early's Cycle Center earlier and the guy there (his name was Woody IIRC) actually quoted me some really good prices on several tires. He said he could install an Avon AM51 for $59+$25 labor, which is pretty cheap. The better part is that when he came out to look at my bike he said that the tire in question had 1-2000 miles left on it....talk about an honest salesman. I'll definitely be heading back there when it does need replacing.

Thumbs up to those guys.
