So I now have a new apartment in Durham, NC, into which I will move in July. But (excitedly bites nails)...I can get a garage with it!!! So...pay the $80/month for a rather pitifully stocked garage with the potential to be an awesome garage (Daddy loves to get his favorite daughter tools) or save money and do repairs the old fashioned way?
(I did find a cheapy $100 air compressor today at Costco, and then I can get a heavy duty jack and be pretty well off. This is way too exciting!)
Lorena, i'm way jealous. i'd say go for a garage, not only is it great in terms of keeping your car from door dings, vandalism (keying, etc.), and weather (hail), but even a small garage will be a good place to do work on your car and store dirty junk like tires, jacks, oily stuff and tools.
doing car stuff on an unlevel, oily, hot as crap parking lot is for the birds. i can't WAIT to get me a garage.

i also say get the garage. But i'm bias towards it, you can wax it in there properly and store and take care of all the necessities.
I'm probably going to be staying with my mom for a while, but a garage is high on the priority list whenever i get a place of my own...leaning towards a townhome with a garage.

If Durham is anything like the Charlotte/Mecklenburg County area,there is no doubt you want a garage. Between the Cars stolen in this area,and people breaking into cars to get stereos/other junk,its worth it to get a garage.
