getting inspection
#1
Soooooo a couple questions...

1. What is required to pass a safety inspection? My car is 27 years old so it should be exempt from emmisions.

2. Where is a good place to get an inspection? I'm poor and don't want to get ripped off.

3. Any advice for court? I got a frigginc ourt summons frlom a JMU cop cause my brake lights went out (wire got pulled in engine bay i think)

Safety inspection:

Head lights work and aimed properly
Brake lights
Turn signals
Hazards
Horn
Ebrake
Brake pads have meat on them
Tires need to be above 2/32nds

I am sure i'm missing a thing or two, but you get the idea. Its the same price no matter where you go - I think its up to $20 or $25 now.

-check out VA DMV. They have a list of exatly everything that they test for
-check out Monro out next to Red Lobster. They do my work when I don't want to and I've never had any problems with them.
-for court you will probably have to bite the bullet. Tell the judge what happened, that you were unaware, and that it has been fixed. And fix it. Probably won't do any good, but stranger things have happened and it is worth a shot.

don't leave your car there overnight like i did. i could swear they took a joyride or something in my car when i got it inspected last year, because when i got it back the clutch felt distinctly different, and still feels weird to this day. i don't know what they did but my clutch doesnt "grab" like it used to, and the engagement point is definitely higher. i was a fool and didnt take down my milage beforehand so i had no proof.

Get your inspection done. Remember to get a receipt. Bring it to your court date, and the judge will ask you if you got it done.

Show them that you did and most of the time they'll dismiss it.
