can anybody give me a link or information to a good source (preferrably free) to read about turbos and their in-depth workings? i'm trying to learn more about turbos, and so far all ive been able to find are a few sites with some rather weak explanations about compressor maps and a/r ratios and trim. any help would be appreciated

Not gonna get much better than the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. Not free, but I'd imagine at least one MM member has to have one they can lend.

What do you want to know about turbochargers?
They are very simple in terms of how they work...www.howstuffworks.com has pretty moving diagrams and everything.

But knowing how they work isn't everything:
