Dyno Results

I don't know why Jack or Greg havn't taken a second out of their day to post up their trip to the dyno but Jack's Turbo II Rx7 put down 140 rear wheel horsepower and Gregg's FD Rx7 put down 230 rear wheel horsepower.

It was a fun time at Ultimate/Mach V's dyno...I was out to watch because I figured with 2 rotaries making multiple dyno pulls there is about a 99.9% chance of seeing one blow. But that didn't happen.

I also spent a few minutes tuning my boy's 16g powered 91 GSX after the Rx7's and made a fairly conservative 267 all wheel horsepower at 19psi.

So you're saying on a mustang dyno an ITR would pull around 140?

Let me explain folks. I went to the dyno to test my A/F ratios. My rear right caliper is acting up again was was damn near locked when it was on the dyno. On top of that, it ran at a whopping 13.8:1 A/F ratio. I am starting diagnostics. It should have dynoed at least 40 more hp.

At WOT turbocharged cars should be at least 12:1. For safety. Or something.

Anyway, there's definitely something wrong with jack's car. My guess is an air leak post MAFS.

Or then there's that "old-ass rotary" problem. That could be it.

You mean 'at most' and I wouldn't drive a turbo rotary around town on 93 octane with a 12:1 a/f ratio. Not unless you want to buy another rotary soon.

I don't have a clue why it was reading so high on Jack and even on Gregg's car, but when Bill's car got strapped in his read just like it should...off the chart rich until I turned up the boost and leaned it out to about 11.8:1 across the board.

For what it's worth, the Z32 folks always say 11.5:1.

A good tuner should be able to work around that - they will check to see if it has a functional cat, etc and the readings will be roughly half point higher (leaner), IIRC even without one.
