New clutch / pressure plate installed

Refreshed tranny with new TOB and throwout arm

Broken exhaust manifold studs are fun!!!

So far I have torn everything apart, installed a new clutch / TOB / pressure plate / main seal & carrier gasket, and reinstalled the transmission into the car. I also got a little over-confident with the breaker bar and broke an exhaust manifold stud Cry (which may or may not get fixed depending on my laziness factor). Very time consuming job, although not all that hard. More pics to come later.

Good work, soldier!!! I've ended up breaking about half of the exhaust-related bolts/studs that I've had to touch on the Z - then drilling them out. If you've got a clear shot at it, just pick the same size drill bit and go for it...

My bad yo 8) , I'm not the best writer at 3am.

I'll help you out Mike if you have a place to do it - all you really need is a Chiltons manual and some time to spare.

Update:

Last night I put the subframe back into the car and started re-connecting everything. Everything was going great until I got to my tie rod ends. I thought I had ordered replacement nuts and cotter pins for the TREs, and had thrown the original pieces away, only to find out I had not ordered replacements. This mistake led to a 3 hour excursion this morning into downtown Baltimore to get new castle nuts ($4 in parts, $15 in gas and tolls.) With this problem resolved, I reassembled the rest of the car, lowered it off the jack stands, hooked up the battery, and.......nothing. The starter didn't engage and the motor didn't turn over. Cursing ensued, followed by some more cursing. Looked at the starter, found a loose lead, tightened the wire, and VOLIA! IT'S ALIVE!!!!! (although loud, my exhaust header doesn't seal with the broken stud.)

I am very surprised at how light my new clutch feels compared to the old one (even though I replaced it with the exact same pressure plate and clutch disc.) Everything seams great at the moment, and I love the way the car shifts with the lighter clutch. Overall, I feel I learned a lot about my car by performing this job, although it's not something I would like to do on a weekly basis.
