2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS- Detail Write-up Premier Shine
#1
Hello MM!
I had the pleasure of spending a day with this brand new Porsche 911 GT2 RS limited edition model. The car only has 1,500 miles on it as the owner has only recently picked her up. Knowing the extremely low mileage I performed a simple one-step polish to remove the fine hairline scratches that were present from improper washing from the dealership. Following the light correction I applied Power Lock for a durable layer of protection.

Only 500 of these "limited edition" models were made, 149 of the 500 were allowed to be sold in the U.S.

With a price tag close to $250,000, I approached this detail with the utmost professionalism and concentration, this is the most expensive car to date I have ever worked on.

Lets start the magic

You do some really great work sir. It's really cool to see somebody else passionate for this type of work because I detailed the whole time I was in college on the side much like you do.

I do have a question for you though, and it was something I thought about numerous times but never really looked into it. But, after seeing you work on such an expensive car, do you have insurance of any kind that would cover the accidental mishap? Just for anything random like say the buffer slipping out of your hands and putting some good size dents in a hood? Now, I'm certainly not implying that something like that would ever happen so please don't take offense to it, it's just the "business minded" side of me wondering what would happen in that type of situation.

Thank you! And yes, I have looked into insurance very briefly and it would be somewhat of a large expense considering I am only home for 3 months out of the year which accounts for the majority of my business. As it is my chemical expenses as well as the gas I gulp through to get to the worksite adds up. The owner of this Porsche also has a collection of other Porsche's as well as a Ferrari and a few other toys. If all goes well and I begin to work on his other collectibles or any other clients vehicles that are north of 100K then I am going to pull the trigger on insurance.

I have never had a mishap or accident on any of my clients vehicles, I always prep correctly when cleaning the motor and take my time when moving the clients car from one spot to another, or when choosing which pad and polish to use.....etc. I always do research on the cars at least a week in advance to learn every flaw or characteristic of the paint, electrical system, etc. so that I have a little education on the car before going to work on it. If anything did ever happen I would of course foot the bill and take full responsibility.
Thank you for asking and I appreciate the comment! Big Grin

I wouldn't exactly consider hardwiring in a V1 remote display a huge modification. You can easily remove it and leave the wire splicer in place. Everything is hidden behind the dash, there is no way 99.9% of any potential future buyer would ever notice it.

In fact, I would be more worried about those suction cups letting loose and banging that V1 on that $20,000 dash!! My hardwire at least holds the detector in place somewhat if the cups ever give loose.
