"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

From Grantland, FWIW:

"Speaking of sports docs, Senna is being released in New York and Los Angeles today; we already ran Jones' excellent review on Grantland a month ago, so I will only say this  it's one of the best sports documentaries ever."

Saw it on opening night. It was rich, beautiful, and engrossing. The amount and variety of footage they compiled for the documentary was awesome. From onboard videos, tv interviews, family videos, and driver meetings this had it all. Anyone who is remotely into motorsport or going fast should ABSOLUTELY watch this. My girlfriend watched with me and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

The F1 reporter for ABC (John Bisignano) who did a good amount of voice over in the movie, showed up at the end and took questions from the crowd for about 30-45 minutes. Had a lot of cool personal stories about Senna. What a great unexpected bonus.

Spread the word!

Just got back from seeing this, and x2 to everything G said. Very engrossing, and very well done film. I'll admit I was a bit teary-eyed by the end. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the film - it wasn't purely action, but rather a dissection of his character backlit by spectacular footage.

Thats awesome that Bisignano was there Friday, makes me wish I could've gone then! His voiceover was very "appropriate" I thought, he did a good job.

I had no idea who Senna was but I thought the movie was amazing(never really watched an F1 race before). I thought it told his story really well and I had no clue how fast the cars actually went till I saw the on board camera! I couldn't imagine crashing back in the day. I was also surprised how political racing was(is?)
