The model is T-CJ12. If you just happen to have the actual trackball itself around that would be great. I still have my mouse in good condition, but i can't find the freaking ball around here anywhere. It's a 2" diameter I believe.

OMG..found the ball. Apparently it got packed into a thing of winter clothes. I paid 100$ for this mouse probably 10 years ago. I was getting it out to take to work wtih me because my wrist has been bothering me lately, and I realized they are now going on ebay for like 300$

I forgot how awesome this was. If you're a coder constantly switching screens, especially with a dual monitor setup, you should get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-TrackMan-Marble-FX-Trackball/dp/B00000JBUI
maybe not those, but if you can find one in the 100$ range.
Especially with dual 24" monitors, i found it a super pain in the ass to move between them with stuff...with this i can just flick my finger tips. I bet it would be good for anyone doing any image editing and such too - its much more accurate than my traditional mouse

...and here I thought the developer on my team that resists change in every way possible was the only one who used those.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
I had the thumb ball one that I used with my 386 back in 1992. Didnt even have a scroll wheel. Used it through college, no idea where it is now. My dad has the marble FX that he loves. Never been a fan of that one.
Once you get used to them they are deadly fast and precise, but there is a learning curve which is a turnoff for some.
I thought I read that Logitech is coming out with an updated model soon
I wish they would. When I was trying to find a ball for mine, I came across a ton of forums that were like "wtf logitech..why did you stop these?" and I found that they briefly made a slightly more ergonomic wireless one..but who knows why that died either.
And you're righta bout the learning curve..feels real funny at first, but eventually it feels real natural. They are real accurate too. Back in my quake2 days that is the only reason I even bought this mouse.
For me, My hands hurt the most from using the mouse..not sure why that is, typing doesnt bother me, but using a mouse all day makes my hand hurt. I used to work in a vi environment, so I never noticed it. New job where I am using eclipse and working in a gui all day sure was making my hand hurt.

yeah the mouse is what kills my wrists the most ever since I switched to a natural keyboard.
so I switch hands (insert joke) every time one wrist starts to hurt
here it is
its the thumb style though, which personally I prefer
