For an underpowered track car, which wheels would you choose, given that they'll wear 205/50/15 tires?
15x7, 17 lbs
Or
15x6, 13.5 lbs
Which would be "faster"?

I think trying to put 205 series tires on a 7-inch rim would really stretch the sidewalls in a bad way. I mounted a set of 205/50/16" tires on 6" wide rims, they are perfect. My Milli Miglas are 7" wide IIRC and they mount perfectly with 225/50/16" - I had 205 series tires on them for a while and I looked like a drifter.
Which is "faster" around a racetrack I couldn't tell you, although I would assume proper fitting tires are quicker than non-proper fitting ones...
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

i'd probably go with the 6's. better tire fitment and with that power i'd assume less unsprung mass/rotational weight would be even more helpful on a momentum car like that.

irrelevant for a track car. whatever is cheaper and pimpier
yeah yeah I know, not a big deal. Going for the 15x6 :dunno:
