Hey people, I'm Chris and I'm a junior International Business major. I actually joined spring of 2009 but only went to a few events. I was abroad this past fall, so now I'm trying to be more involved with this club. I drive a black 2004 RX8, tinted and de-badged so I added at least 60 hp. I also own a 1972 Camaro RS/SS which was my first car. It's currently motionless in my driveway at Smith Mountain Lake, VA (about an hour from Roanoke). I've been in love with cars ever since one of my friends introduced me to a 1964 Plymouth Valient when i was like 9 years old.
Other than cars I like normal things: food, friends, beer. Wakeboarding is a hobby even though I haven't quite reached the mediocre level yet.
Well, if for some reason you're like to know more, feel free to contact me, face book stalk me, real life stalk me, I'm a pretty approachable dude.
Also, apparently I'm computer illiterate and can't get a picture of myself to load on here, but here are my cars:

The camaro has a 350 (non # matching) with a turbo 350 trans. it originally had the 4 spd but was swapped somewhere along the way. It has an edelbrock intake and carb. I can't read the brand on the headers since they're so old. it has a 2500 stall, and i'm not sure about under the valve covers. unfortunately i've owned the car for 5 years but dont possess the knowledge to tear the engine apart. it has a shitty rear end which i hope to replace soon. oh and the guys i bought the car from didn't know it was an SS. hehe.
i do indeed live in the back of pheasant run. 469 to be exact, and i see no reason why i wont be there tomorrow night.

 I will build/own one of those. I hate how its become the "popular" old car but I guess if somethings sexy it just attracts a lot of attention. However, I completely embrace Fuel Injection so im one of those, I love the car, I could give shit less if it was number matching/worth money etc.

My dad can go on and on about the '67 Camaro he had. His was reddish/maroon with the RS package (gave him white tape stripes, oohhhh). He doesn't think it was an SS but based on other stuff he's told me, I think it was an RS/SS car. You could get both packages I believe.

Anyway, your '72 looks awesome. I'd love to find a '67ish for my dad and get it restored and running for him. How is it driving the Camaro around, compared to the RX8 or any other newer car? My uncle has a 59 Chevy pickup that I drove, with power nothing, and it was uh, quite the beast.

See ya tonight!

Welcome. I am also from Roanoke area. If you ever decide to tear into the camaro, feel free to post up here. Lots of knowledgeable shadetrees here. I've been through a couple SBC and GM rearends and tranny's myself.

well seeing as how the RX8 has little to no torque, driving the camaro is a completely different experience. also, the camaro's steering is pretty loose and the RX8 is as tight as an 8 year old. the 50/50 weight distribution is prety cool too. my camaro has no stereo, only surround sound flowmasters, and then i hop in the RX8 and have 9 bose speakers and the sound of a 1.3L Jetson's car.
i definitely want to take the camaro apart. hopefully i'll be able to bring it up here if i can ever get it to the point of trusting it to make the 2 hour journey

From that statement alone, I would like to suggest that you wait until you have a place with a garage that you don't intend on leaving for several years. I've owned my Z for over 3 years and didn't start making any real progress on it until it had a dedicated, sheltered place for it to reside.

Did the Camaro run when you bought it? I know you said it hasn't been driven in several years, just wondering if it broke when you got it or (with fresh gas and so on) if it would run now.

That generation of camaro spent a long time with no interest or respect and is definitely starting to come on. I always liked them and they are certainly attainable, the way 67-69 was 12-15yrs ago. A few recent builds like HR's F-Bomb and Dale JR's car I think are helping them gain some popularity. Not that they weren't, just releative to the previous gen. Your lucky, my brother got a 66 mustang when he was 16 and the problems with that prompted my dad to say "No" when I was 16 and looking at an old Camaro.

Anyway, nice rides. I think it's pretty cool how opposite end of the spectrum they are.

the camaro did run when i bought it. it actually ran pretty well. it was my daily driver my junior year in high school. but after spending all that money in gas, and maintaining it i knew i couldnt keep driving it every day. it was never driven while i was at school and slowly it became evident that the car was put together rather poorly. it needs a new battery and some work on the wiring, so it wouldnt take much to have it back on the road. i definitely agree that it will be best to wait until i have my own place (and income) to tear it down and build it back
