hello there everyone.
my wife Jen on the right. my beard has increased in size and power since that picture was taken.
This is my subaru. don't get excited, its only an RS - but it does have STi struts/springs, 20mm RSB, braces, header/catback, some intake work, short shifter, and a few other modz, yo, so it does pretty well unless drag racing is involved.

i'm really looking forward to putting some decent meat on some steamroller wheels and getting some more camber up front. after that, probably some better dampers and maybe a stiffer front bar. by then i'll probably be ready to move onto something V8 or roadsterish. here's how it sounds.
i joined MM in 2001 as a sophomore. i was excited and amazed that the club existed because i had never heard of a college having an actual motorsports club. car club, cruise club, enthusiast club...yeah, but not one that actually did real motorsports stuff as well as all the other cool car club stuff. at the time we were a much smaller club and the forum didn't even exist yet - so you can imagine how cool it has been to see the club flourish and become so well regarded. i had the privelege of hanging out with many of the club's OG officers and core guys, many of which i'm still very good friends with to this day and stay in touch with. I donÔÇÖt think thatÔÇÖs very common in a lot of collegiate clubs, regardless of the clubÔÇÖs theme. In 2003 I became club secretary and held it until 2005 when I graduated.

When are you moving back to Roanoke. The beard helps, but ATL still might kill you.

my old steeds:
money pit:

had a chipped ECU, bailey BPV, A8 monster ass front discs, ferodo DS2500 pads, and an isspro boost gauge. utter PITA to work on and pay for parts, super smooth when it was working though. it was a pretty rare car actually, 99.5 model year with OE sport package, 5 speed, quattro, NO options except for a built-in phone
got rid of this for my audi (probably a mistake):

crappy picture i know, better one later. had a AEM CAI (sounded fantastic), ebay short shifter, type R knob, TL-S rear sway bar and hawk HPS front pads and 17 inch old school moda rims. oh and i made a OEM looking shift light in the dash cluster that lit up when VTEC engaged (it even said "vtec" on the light in the correct font)! haha...wow that is embarrassing. what a blast to drive. i really miss how well it worked as a package despite its size and weight. made me realize why these cars sell like crazy. also a rare car - EX package (power everything, sunroof, stereo) but cloth interior and 5 speed with the 2.3. it sold in a matter of hours, probably still driving around somewhere in NOVA.

where's the pic of me chucking your shock into the field behind sunchase? that needs to be posted here, as well as a picture of you under your passenger front wheel for 3 days

haha how could i forget that. i'm the worst mechanic ever. i knew it was bad when total strangers were walking up to me asking me if i was ok because i'd been under a car for 3 days. i don't know what i would have done if you and Dave weren't there to bail my ass out. i'll post those pictures up once i get home.
edit: found it. GTFO evil shock! and good arm, Jay
if anyone lives in sunchase/chase court, i can almost gaurantee there's a slightly leaking accord shock absorber still sitting in that field between the buildings and the bank. yours if you want it.

That was a great day :-)
Scotty's mechanic memo to the world: don't undo the bolt in the center of the shock (retaining the spring in place between the shock and upper mount) until the whole unit is out of the car.

I could see how that could become a frustrating situation

if your suspension looks like this, you probably aren't replacing the shock correctly. haha man my cell phone was huge back in the day....
learn it the hard way or don't bother at all, that's what i say!

I've been there as well....I had a blown coilover strut on my VW GTI. I tried to replace it in the C2 lot (?)(the parking lot across from the main entrance to JMU) and it was on jackstands for like a couple of weeks. The phone calls from the cops wondering whether someone stole my wheels or why my car was on jack stands got old real fast.....good times
