since you didn't list any mods, i'm going to guess it's bone stock. that would mean he can drive pretty well.

naw its not stock at all.. Just was wondering what a good lap time was overall..I know it varies with the car and mods obviously.

95 M3
- header, intake, euro mass air, chip, full exhaust etc.
- 993 Turbo brakes front and rear
- full suspension
- stripped and full piper cage
- r compounds
- etc etc etc

So I take it, it should be a lot faster huh? He was in an advanced group and there wasnt much on the track with us that was faster. I was pretty impressed

Sounds like a pretty good time to me for a DE event.

With some more setup work, a fast driver, its probably got another 5-8 seconds in the car. An SCCA IT prep 325is will turn 2:10-2:12 but thats probably got more work with suspension, tires, etc.

what's an it prep 325 put out? sure, i bet there's time in his suspension, but he's gotta be making up a fair amount on the straights.

Not that far off from a stock-ish M3. They got bumped from ITS because they make huge power gains.

Most of the power in an E36 M3 comes from the cams.

I know the IP M3s were down into the 2:08s about 3 years ago - which is wicked fast. In my Z I was neck and neck with some of them down the straight at just over 140 (datalogger speed) and through most of the track except for the high speed esses where they would walk me. That was with me doing low 2:13s or so... it's amazing how dialed in you can get that E36 chassis...
