Bruce Meyers
'The Father of the modern day Dune Buggy' & the latest Manx
This yearÔÇÖs special guest for the Kit-Replicar side of the All-Import/Kit-Replicar Nationals will once again be Bruce Meyers, father of the modern day Dune Buggy. Meyers made his Carlisle debut last year and was such a hit that we had to have him back in 2009. This year Bruce will be bringing the first Meyers Manx Kick Out to the show for its East Coast debut and along with John Denmat will be doing the final assembly of the very first Manx Kick Out SS ÔÇô here at the Show!! Meyers has a long history with Dune Buggies, dating back to the original water pumpers of Southern California. Meyers took it upon himself to re-design the crude, heavy vehicles into the lightweight version that we are accustomed to today. After being featured on the cover of national automotive magazines like Hot Rod and Car and Driver, The Meyers ManxÔÇÖs popularity took off across the country. Over the years, Meyers produced over 7,000 kits stemming from the Manx.

Club Challenge
Clubs compete for awards based on attendance
The Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals has long been home to many car clubs with some using the show to host national meets. Clubs that register a minimum of 25 vehicles are eligible to receive the use of a 20ÔÇÖ X 20ÔÇÖ tent for the weekend at no charge. These tents make a great location for the club headquarters and the ideal place to just hang out and socialize. Larger clubs may be eligible for a bigger tent. Contact us for details.

SCCA Autocross
On site, six-turn, mini road course
DonÔÇÖt just sit in a lawn chair all weekend; show us what your car can do by taking your turn on our on-site Autocross track! Located in the North Field, the track has the feel of a road course and features six turns as well as elevation changes. Be sure to sign up early before itÔÇÖs sold out. If youÔÇÖre not ready to get behind the wheel we offer a viewing deck above the track where you can safely watch the action. If you have any questions or want to learn more about autocross competition members of the Susquehanna Region of the SCCA and the Appalachian Sports Car Club are on hand all weekend.

Coolest Club Hangout
Finally, a contest where there are no losers
Clubs that receive a Carlisle EventsÔÇÖ supplied tent are also encouraged to participate in the Coolest Club Hangout competition. There arenÔÇÖt really any rules and the process is simple: just decorate your tent in a manner that would make the Carlisle staff want to hangout with your club for the weekend. The winning club will be awarded with a banner that can be proudly displayed on your tent for the weekend letting everyone know where the cool people are!

Carlisle Elite
A New Award from Carlisle Events
A new addition to this yearÔÇÖs IKR event was the Carlisle Elite classification. The Carlisle Elite are ten vehicles that are hand-chosen by the Carlisle EventsÔÇÖ planning staff. These cars were selected on Friday only and the only other criterion is that the vehicle had to catch our collective eye. Winners received a very nice award, a hat, t-shirt, window decal and they become a lifetime member of the Carlisle Elite. The Elite winners were assembled at the Stage on Sunday as part of the awards ceremony and each vehicle owner was asked a series of questions and given a few minutes to talk to the crowd about their car. Be sure to arrive on Friday next year if you want to be considered for the Carlisle Elite.

Standard of Excellence (SoE) Judging
Vehicles compete against a 100-point judging sheet
Although IKR is a laid-back show where anyone can display a car for the weekend, there are those who have taken their car to the next level and want validation for that effort. For those who fit into that category we offer Standard of Excellence Judging where owners compete against a set of criteria on the judging sheets rather than the other vehicles. The qualified judging team is comprised of knowledgeable automotive enthusiasts and industry professionals. There are classes available for imports, kits and unrestored originals. To apply for Standard of Excellence Judging please click here.

Dyno Challenge
Axcelerated Motorsports: Dyno Dale The Carlisle Dyno Guy!

All presenters are very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise and most are available during the weekend for further discussion. A complete list of seminars will be available on the web site a few weeks before the show; donÔÇÖt forget to check back in for updates.

Invitational Display

Building Y is home to the best of the best with a diverse display of imports and kits. Many of the cars that have participated in this display in the past have come directly from the pages of national magazines and some starred in movies or on TV. More importantly, most of them are owned by average car enthusiasts like you. If you have a vehicle, import or kit, that you think should be part of the 2009 Invitational Display, please complete and submit the 2009 Invitational Form.
