They do. It sucks sitting in impound for 30+ minutes after a 12/13/24 hr race too.
that is ridonk for any race for a plaque. i can see impounding the winner or top 3, but everyone? give me a break. does scca do cash prizes? that makes things different.

SCCA usually does top 3 but thats not a hard rule.
There's no cash prizes, but contingency $$ depends on official results.

hrmph. ok, it's all silly.
anyway, i looked up car counts. last year the same event had 205 racers. this year 124. i'd be doing my damnedest to keep those customers 175% happy... that is all

Do you think they'd be happy if competitors were running underweight because they knew there was no weigh in?
Its part of club racing. Thats the deal. Nothing new here.

i don't think anyone is upset by impounding the winner, top 3, top 5, etc.

You'd go a lot farther in preventing 70 car race groups than removing a mandatory impound.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
Stick to being track santa then.

Great weekend even if it did rain on Saturday. The XR is getting better each event (finally) and I'm encouraged... finally!
Great to see all the new MM guys out and about too. NASA is a great family, please come around again!

It was a great weekend, and my first track event in the rain. It was a learning experience. I also got impounded on both days (twice on Sunday) and I don't see the big deal or what the problem is with doing it
Jewels Wrote:balactm Wrote:does anyone know how much hotel rooms go for down there?
You'll be lucky to find any hotel rooms for this event. As I said before it is a NASCAR weekend in Martinsville. Your best bet is to crash on the floor of a room that workers are in. But if you are working the hotel room is free.
For future reference, camping at VIR is nice. At least the facilities are nice compared to Summit Point. I would not want to camp at Summit Point, their facilities were pretty bad. Make sure your tent is waterproof though, of course.
