Most do. I'm not really sure if the DEI ones work that way or not to be honest. Batteries are only an issue if you have the fancy remotes. The one way ones never need to be replaced...the 2-way eat batteries.

Are two-way remotes reaaaaly useful, or just a perk? If I'm 2000 feet away, the thief will likely be in and out before I get there anyhow, right?

2 way is pretty cool...when it works. I have a 2-way on my Sebring, the nice thing about it is you know if the car got the message you were sending it. Its more useful for that then letting you know if the alarm is sounding.
