How far from 81 is it in the vicinity of Bristol?

are you asking how far it is from 81 or if it's in the vicinity of Bristol? Bristol is on the VA/TN state line.

TOTD is not in the "vicinity" of either. it's on the NC/TN/SC corner.

It's about 1.5-2 hours from Bristol. Abingdon (my home town) butts up against Bristol and from there you get on 81 S for about 90 miles then on I-40 for about 15 miles and you get off at pigeon forge. From there you take some roads to the Dragon. And as long as we are in Pigeon Forge I'm going to the 3 story knife store known as Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

- anyone know the speed limit on the road?

I think it's 35. Sounds slow but apparently if you can maintain that kind of speed throughout (i.e. trafficsuxsometimes) then it's pretty fun. Local LEO's patrol pretty hard I think.

The other local roads (Cherehola) offer a bit more speed afaik.

+1. When Ginger and I went two years ago we got to Cherehola around 9 in the morning, on a monday. No traffic. We blazed it at 80-110. Amazing high-speed sweepers.

Also, Ginger poured gasoline on his genitals.
