Ahh I love the smell of 2-stroke fumes in the mornin'. Smells like cancer.

I'm sitting here at turn 1 watching the 250 practice. It's still very wet on track but at least the rain was polite enough to hold off on my ride over here. Unfortunately the rain has killed any chance of demo rides. Ktm has RC8's over here that I hope illl get to ride sometime this weekend.

Anyway, this place is pretty damned nice. It looks about big enough to fit VIR in the infield. Facilities are all top notch too.

Moto GP FP1 was entertaining. Ant West is truly the moist meister as he led almost the whole session. Ben Spies surprisingly led at one point. He didn't seem like he ran many laps but he was visibly riding hard when he was on track. By contrast it looked Pedrosa was tippy toeing it.

Stoner high-sided right on his face at the end of the session. Def one for the highlight reel.

Ill post mo when I feel like it

Yep, rode up here by myself.

The ride actually wasn't that bad. I was kind of dreading it because I didn't have time to buy a more comfortable seat (not to mention I wasn't keen on paying $260 for it). But, I just bought a travel pillow and sat on that and it worked great Smile

Yesterday it didn't stop raining until about 4 pm when the Red Bull Rookies Cup guys came out. It wasn't too bad a deal though. All of the wet sessions were pretty entertaining and there were a couple more high-sides to boot.

Afterwards one of the journalists I know got me into the Yamaha VIP party. Got to chat with Alonso Bodden (host of 100 cars you must drive) and Kevin Cameron a little bit. Valentino came in and I swear everyone (including me) started acting like school girls at a Beatles concert.

James Toseland played a few songs on the piano and I've gotta say, damn he's good. He'll never be as famous as Rossi but he can still drop panties with the piano.

Afterwards I went downtown where they closed off the section with bars to cars. There must've been a few thousand bikes out there. It really was badass. I can't imagine how much better it would've been if the weather cooperated.

Anyway, gotta run.

Is Bodden as much of a douche in person as he is on the show? I love the premise for the show, but he's an awful host in my opinion; not sure how he landed that gig.

The times I've watched the show I was entertained :dunno: . Although the show does lack any semblance of rigorous driving.

But yeah, he's a pretty cool dude in person. He said he's more of a bike guy and he was at Laguna as well as WSBK at Miller. Had some pretty well formed opinions on motorcycle racing too.

Today was a fucking blast. So much so that I'll have to put off posting about it till tomorrow. Some highlights:

*bus full of Red Bull Rookies Cup riders (12-16 year olds) trying to get women to show them boobs in exchange for Red Bull
*flat track bikes doing 140 down the straight then pitching it sideways
*watching the Red Bull rookies beat, bang, crash and high-side 125's

Don't forget the race is on at 3:00 pm ET on NBC. There are rumors that the race may get bumped up due to Hurricane Ike but I imagine they'll just delay the broadcast.
