Decisions...
#1
As im just sititng here waiting for my engine to come in, ive been cruising around on the forums and chitchatting with friends and have 2 decisions in my mind right now. One needs to be made up on what seats I want, 2nd decides on what wheels I want. This is yes, a personal preference thing (and yes both seats are gonna get a roll bar and proper harnesses).

First decision is on seats. After I took pictures for this guy to sell my momos I put him on hold on wether I want to sell them. These seats are gorgeous and they even match MM colors lol. But would I be better of getting MR recaros? Here are pictures of the differences.

Second decision is on wheels.
I have 18x8.5 5zigen fno1rcs here on the car vs 17x9 5zigen fno1rcs. I kind of like the look of 18s on my car, the 17s look a bit small but maybe thats cause im use to 18s? (I dont care if you call me ricer lol)

And this is what 17inch look like on dsms...so this is why im kind of...ehh.

1. do the mr trade, sell mr seats, buy whatever seats you want.
2. the 18s do look better imo, but i'd think 17s would perform better, get you cheaper tires, and have much more tire options.

Alright sweet so i got mike to like the ricer rims  . Yeah 17s tires would be cheaper, hmm...

Mike if you had 1000 bucks to spend on seats what would you buy? This is for a daily driver mostly as ill only be in the states for another year probably and no point in getting a daily when I got a car for only a year.

Edit: Oh and where is Jeff? I am putting in 2 10s in the back of my car, and have to get rid of my rear 6x9s for the roll bar. I am doing a custom box int he back so I can make boxes for speakers integrated. Should I do 6x9s back there or 6 1/2 components? (already got 6 1/2 components up front too) They would not be amped. What would sound the best?

I had those exact wheels in 17s and they still looked pretty good on my old WRX even with the stock wheel gap. Mike's right about the 17s performing better and leaving more cash in your wallet when it comes time to buy tires.

I've never bought or installed aftermarket seats so I can't say much about those... but what's wrong with the ones you have now? Unless the guy is giving you EVO seats + cash for yours, is it going to make that big of a difference either way?

i think any non-track car should have reclinable seats. its convenient and the OEM+ look is hot.

17's are lighter, cheaper, and the width actually helps performance. if you have some really serious performance tires on there the bigger sidewall will not really affect performance. you car does like blingin as hell with 18s but i'd vote 17s.

Have you sat in both sets of seats (obviously you've sat in yours, but the Recaros?) - I would pick the most comfortable or whichever you fit the best.

As far as rims... I think I like the looks of the 18s better, but the whole "more options for tires" argument for the 17s is definitely valid. Eh, idk, I'd probably pick the 18s.

I may be wrong by the MR seats look like they recline, something you don't (Can't) have with a cage.

MR seats recline but they dont have much lateral support from the look of the seats. Will it matter much with a proper set of harnesses connected to a roll bar?

Mike I have a Sparco Speed that I used to daily drive. Maybe make that my passenger and a fighter the driver? But then that wouldnt be any different then having the 2 momos... blah...the grass is always gonna be greener on the other side...

I have to agree with Pete... don't think its advisable to have reclinable seats with a bar and harnesses. I suppose a lot of people do it though so maybe I'm wrong. I would get a seat with as much lateral support as you can stand for daily driving.

but wouldn't that leave you with a fair amount of cash in pocket?

i would consider getting a somewhat larger passenger seat, and a crappier one for the average-sized instructor incase it breaks.

i agree with what's been said about the reclinable seats for cars with a cage/bar and harnesses. get a fixed one you can go to the track with and maybe swap out a reclinable for daily driving.

I will not (and im saying it right here and now) be tracking the car this year. In May I leave for China again for a year and I just want to enjoy the car, beat the shit out of it in autox and maybe put down some healthy hp numbers. Put it in storage and then once I get back then maybe do a setup, but ill be buying a daily driver then.

I wanted the roll bar for harnesses which I wanted for autox/spirited driving runs. Kind of sounds silly when I say it, doesnt it? But ill need the harnesses anyway once I get back into HPDEs.

This is why I wanted opinions to toss a few things around in my head. I even thought about throwing the stock seats back in and just walking away with the 1000 for RRE top hats/roll bar/harnesses......

Hey DJ don't forget that I can hook you on just about any size/brand of tire that you need either 17's or 18's with your MM discount from us. As far as the seats those MoMos are sick but I don't know about the comfortability of those. If you ever want to test out the Evo seats let me know and I'll let you take mine for a spin to see if you like them.
